Pereire Beach – Arcachon
Pereire beach is one of the most elegant and pleasant in Arcachon. Wide, tree-lined and perfectly maintained, it offers an unobstructed view of the Bay and is an excellent compromise between nature and accessibility.
We particularly recommend it to families, couples and travellers who appreciate quiet beaches with space.
The best times to visit are May, June, and September, when it's less crowded and the weather is very pleasant. In July and August, go in the morning before 10 a.m. or late afternoon.
Marc & Géraldine's tip: in the late afternoon, the low light on the Bassin is superb and the atmosphere becomes particularly peaceful.

Eyrac beach: elegance and proximity to the center
Located just a 10-minute walk from Villa Madelon, Eyrac beach is one of the most accessible from the center of Arcachon.
It stands out for its particularly pleasant setting, nestled between beautiful beachfront villas and offering unobstructed views of the Arcachon Basin. It's an ideal beach for a quick break, a swim, or a stroll along the water's edge.
Facing you, the landscape opens up to reveal iconic features of the Basin:
- the stilted cabins
- Bird Island, visible directly opposite, especially at low tide
The atmosphere is generally calmer than on more central beaches, while still remaining close to amenities.
An excellent compromise between accessibility, setting and authenticity.

The beach at the foot of the Dune du Pilat
At the foot of the Dune du Pilat stretches an immense ocean beach facing the Atlantic. The contrast between the highest dune in Europe, the forest and the ocean offers a spectacular panorama.
It's an ideal place for lovers of wide open spaces, photography and impressive landscapes.
The best times to visit are April to June, then September and October. In summer, it's best to go early in the morning or after 6 pm to avoid the crowds and the heat.
Marc & Géraldine's tip: climb the dune in the late afternoon, then come back down towards the ocean to admire the sunset from the beach.

Horizon Beach – Cap Ferret
Located on the oceanfront of Cap Ferret, Horizon beach is a large, wild beach bordered by dunes. It is very popular for its waves and natural character.
It is perfectly suited to surfers, lovers of long walks and travelers looking for a more rugged atmosphere.
May, June, and September are the ideal times. In the height of summer, opt for the early hours of the day.
Advice from Marc & Géraldine: respect the supervised swimming areas and find out about the conditions before getting in the water.

Arbousiers Beach – Le Moulleau
Arbousiers beach is a more intimate beach, located in the Moulleau district. It offers a friendly atmosphere and a pleasant view of the entrance to the Bassin.
It is perfect for couples, relaxing holidays and peaceful swims.
June and September are ideal months. In summer, opt for the morning or late afternoon.
Marc & Géraldine's tip: combine swimming and a walk in Moulleau, then enjoy dinner overlooking the Bassin.

Salie North Beach – La Teste-de-Buch
Salie Nord beach is a long ocean beach, very sparsely urbanized, renowned for its natural atmosphere and surf spots.
It is suitable for sporty travelers, lovers of wide open spaces and those seeking authenticity.
The best times to visit are May, June, and September. In summer, arrive early to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Marc & Géraldine's advice: bring water, sun protection and a hat, shade is scarce.

Biscarrosse Ocean Beach
Biscarrosse Océan is located on the Atlantic coast, south of the Arcachon Basin. It is a large beach renowned for the power of its waves, making it a popular surfing spot, but also an impressive site for observing the ocean in all its power.
The route leads through a vast pine forest, transforming the journey into a true nature walk before arriving at the ocean. It's a route we particularly enjoy, especially in spring and early autumn.
This beach is particularly suitable for surfers with some prior experience or those accompanied by local surf schools. However, it is less suitable for unsupervised beginners.
The best times to visit are May, June, and September. In July and August, opt for the morning to avoid the crowds and enjoy more consistent conditions.
Marc & Géraldine's advice: the ocean is often powerful here and the currents can be strong. For this reason, we recommend avoiding swimming with young children and strictly adhering to supervised swimming areas and safety guidelines.
When is the best time to visit the area around Arcachon?
In our experience, May, June, and September offer the best balance between pleasant weather and reasonable crowds. July and August offer excellent conditions but are more crowded. April and October are perfect for walks, photography, and peaceful stays.
