Here are some of the unmissable experiences to enjoy around the Parador Vert.

Skiing in Superbesse

Super-Besse: mountain resort in summer and winter

Just a few minutes from the area, Super-Besse is the main mountain resort of the Sancy Massif.

In winter, the resort offers an accessible and varied ski area with:

  • Sled dogs
 

In the summer, the resort transforms into a playground for outdoor activities:

  • downhill mountain biking

The resort is located just minutes from the ski area, allowing you to fully enjoy the activities while staying in peaceful cottages near Super-Besse, surrounded by nature and the volcanic landscapes of the Sancy Massif. For winter holidays, a shuttle bus directly connects the Parador Vert to the foot of the slopes (both alpine and Nordic).

Hiking

Hiking in the Sancy Massif

The Sancy Massif is one of the most beautiful hiking areas in central France. Its volcanic landscapes offer a wide variety of routes, between panoramic ridges, glacial lakes and vast summer pastures.

Numerous trails are accessible directly near the property or within a few minutes' drive. Among the must-do hikes are:

  • the ascent of the Puy de Sancy, the highest point of the Massif Central
  • the Chaudefour Valley, a spectacular nature reserve
  • the Sancy peaks offering 360° panoramas
  • the trails around Lake Chambon and Lake Pavin

These routes allow you to discover the natural richness of Auvergne on foot, in any season.

You can also join the GR 30 to hike around the Sancy massif or take the hiking trails that pass by the Parador Vert to reach the Bois du Verdier forest, or continue on to Murol or Besse. We are certified as a "Travel Companion" by the French Hiking Federation because not only are we located very close to the GR30, but we also help with marking the hiking trails.

The Sancy region is also very popular for mountain biking and cycle touring.

Numerous marked trails cross forests, volcanic plateaus and valleys, offering routes suitable for all levels.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy:

  • downhill mountain bike trails of Super-Besse
  • routes of the Great Crossing of the Massif Central (GTMC)
  • numerous gravel or e-mountain bike routes, in particular the Sancy loop

 

From the Parador Vert, several routes allow you to directly explore the surrounding volcanic landscapes. Due to our proximity to these routes and the amenities of our accommodations, we have been awarded the "Accueil Vélo" (Cyclist Welcome) label.

Clermont also serves as the gateway to the Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique location offers the opportunity to discover a spectacular succession of perfectly preserved volcanoes.
